Rear Yard Pavilion & Outdoor Living

Colleyville, Texas

A covered pavilion, outdoor kitchen, and structural pool deck added to an existing home — engineered for clay soils and coordinated around an existing pool build.

Coordinated with the owner's pool builder

The owners had a new pool going in and wanted the rear yard to read as part of the house rather than an add-on: a real covered room with a working kitchen, shade through a Texas summer, and a deck that would not move or crack in a few seasons.

Structural pavilion, outdoor kitchen infrastructure, hardscape, and site drainage — sequenced with the pool contractor so both scopes could run without stepping on each other.

  • Engineered pavilion foundation and column footings
  • Structural framing, roof deck, and flashing detail
  • Outdoor kitchen with gas, plumbing, hood ventilation, and cabinetry
  • Structural pool deck, coping tie-in, and equipment pad coordination
  • Sub-drainage, grading, and downspout routing
  • Low-voltage lighting and audio pulled during rough

Everything sat on the same expansive clay that moves the houses around it. Pavilion footings and the deck were designed against the geotech rather than poured flat, drainage was engineered before hardscape went down so water leaves the structure, and the roof was framed and connected for wind uplift on a long-span open volume — not built like a patio cover.

The pavilion, pool, and deck landed as one finished environment on a single schedule. Deck elevations met the coping without field improvisation, and the drainage plan has held through two full wet seasons with no settlement at the structure.
